Job description

We are currently looking for a friendly, reliable and proactive Disability Support Worker to support a young male participant based in Quakers Hill. This is a community-based support role focused on helping the participant engage with his local community, particularly around shopping centres and local shops.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is approachable, energetic and confident building positive rapport with young people. A genuine interest in supporting independence, social engagement and community participation is important for this role.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Supporting the participant during community access outings

  • Assisting with social engagement and building confidence in the community

  • Supporting the participant while visiting local shops and community spaces

  • Encouraging independence while ensuring safety and wellbeing

  • Providing emotional support and positive companionship

  • Following support plans and communicating updates where required

  • Responding calmly and appropriately to changing situations

  • Maintaining professional boundaries and participant dignity at all times
