Job description
We are looking for a warm, reliable and experienced female Disability Support Worker, based on participant preference, to provide consistent one-on-one support to a woman in her 50s living in the Campbelltown area.
The client has a psychosocial disability, including a borderline personality disorder (BPD) presentation. Support will focus primarily on community participation and meal assistance.
Consistency is particularly important in this role. The client needs time and stability to develop trust, so we are looking for one regular worker who can provide support across all agreed shifts, rather than a rotating team of workers.
The right person will be approachable and compassionate while also being confident in maintaining clear, professional boundaries. You will understand how to remain calm and consistent during challenging situations and support the client in a respectful, trauma-informed way.
Tasks and responsibilities
You will provide individualised support based on the client's needs, preferences and goals. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the client to participate in the community and engage in activities she chooses and enjoys.
Encouraging social and community participation while keeping the client's preferences, choices and independence at the centre of support.
Assisting with meal planning, preparation and other meal-related tasks as required.
Building a positive and trusting working relationship through consistency, patience and reliability.
Using trauma-informed approaches and appropriate de-escalation strategies when required.
Recognising changes in presentation and responding calmly and appropriately to psychosocial or behavioural concerns.
Maintaining clear, respectful and professional boundaries.
Following the client's support plan, organisational procedures and NDIS requirements.
Communicating relevant information clearly and completing required support notes and documentation.
