Job description

We are looking for caring, reliable and positive Disability Support Workers to join our growing team.

We are recruiting a number of Support Workers across Brisbane. For this position, we are looking for people who are based in Brisbane and are comfortable travelling between Brisbane and Ipswich when required.

Previous disability support experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential. We are more interested in finding people who communicate well, show up when they say they will, remain calm under pressure and genuinely care about supporting people to live the life they choose.

We currently have approximately 25–30+ hours per week available for new team members. Full availability is strongly preferred, including availability across weekdays, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Some participants have preferences about the gender of the person supporting them, particularly when personal care is involved. Based on current participant needs across both locations, we are looking to recruit male and female Support Workers.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Protecting each participant’s dignity, privacy, safety and independence

  • Providing transport to appointments, activities and community outings

  • Communicating important updates to participants, families and the wider support team

  • Responding calmly and quickly when unexpected situations arise

  • Following individual support plans, behaviour support strategies and workplace procedures

  • Completing clear and accurate shift notes

  • Providing calm and respectful support to participants who may experience mental health concerns or behaviours of concern

Why Luma Supports is a great place to work

Luma Supports is run by Joel and Regs, who bring firsthand experience in the disability space. The team understands what quality support looks like on the ground and is passionate about doing things the right way.

We work closely with each person with disability and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes. Sometimes that means reaching big goals, and other times it’s about the small, meaningful wins that make each day better.

Luma Supports values genuine care, respect, and consistency. The focus is on building trust and creating positive daily experiences for participants. It’s a team that recognises the importance of both big achievements and the small moments that matter.
