Job description
Dream Maker is looking for an experienced Team Leader & Key Worker to lead a newly formed support team for a woman with complex behavioural support needs in Marsden Park.
This is an important hands-on leadership role. You will work directly with the participant while also helping build a stable, consistent and united team around her. The participant responds best to people who are calm, confident and empathetic, but who can also maintain clear boundaries and follow agreed support plans consistently.
Substance use and complex behaviours are part of the participant's current circumstances. Workers may encounter threatening or challenging communication, although there is no current pattern of physical aggression. Previous experience supporting people with complex behaviours, mental health concerns and/or substance use will be highly valued.
The successful Key Worker will need the confidence to lead by example. Consistency between workers is particularly important in this environment, so you will play a key role in communication, rostering, administration and keeping the team working together.
Tasks and responsibilities
Provide direct, person-centred support to the participant
Lead a team providing 24/7 support and help create a consistent approach across all shifts
Prepare and manage staff rosters
Complete allocated administration and documentation
Support clear handovers and communication between workers
Help establish a positive team culture without cliques or inconsistent approaches
Follow behaviour support plans, risk management strategies and agreed boundaries
Respond calmly to challenging, threatening or escalating situations
Support the participant to make choices and maintain as much independence as possible
