  • Previous experience supporting participants with Muscular Dystrophy or similar physical disabilities

Job description

We are seeking compassionate, experienced female Disability Support Workers to support a 23-year-old participant living with Muscular Dystrophy in Lochinvar. This is a high-support role requiring assistance with personal care, manual handling, daily living activities, medication support, community access, and transport. The participant values capable, confident support workers who can promote independence, provide quality care, and contribute positively to daily life.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide personal care support, including hygiene, showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance

  • Assist with transfers, mobility support, hoisting, and other manual handling tasks

  • Support medication administration in accordance with care plans

  • Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and household tasks

  • Support participation in community activities, appointments, and social outings based on the participant's goals and preferences

  • Provide transport to appointments and community activities

  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes

  • Work collaboratively with family members and other support professionals

  • Respond appropriately to changing support needs and follow established care procedures

  • Provide future catheter care support if required and trained to do so
