Job description
We're looking for a compassionate and reliable Support Worker to provide person-centred support to a participant in the Hornsby area. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, understanding, and committed to building a trusting, consistent relationship. Initially, the role involves a trial 3-hour shift per week to see if it's a good fit, with then additional shifts as the participant's confidence and support needs grow.
Tasks and responsibilities
You will support the participant with daily living and community participation, always following their goals and preferences. Duties include:
Providing person-centred support in the home and community.
Assisting with meal planning, cooking, and meal preparation.
Supporting household tasks, including cleaning and maintaining a tidy living environment.
Encouraging and supporting healthy lifestyle goals, including attending the gym where appropriate.
Providing emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries.
Building a safe, respectful, and trusting relationship through consistent support.
Supporting community access and social participation based on the participant's interests and choices.
Working collaboratively with the participant and their support network to promote independence and wellbeing.
