Job description
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable female Support Worker to support a 13-year-old female participant located in the Randwick area. This role would suit someone who is calm, patient, and experienced in supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and trauma-informed care needs.
The successful candidate will assist with school mornings, school transitions, emotional regulation, and provide general support to the family within the home and community. Building trust, creating consistency, and supporting the participant in a respectful and encouraging way will be an important part of this role.
The participant presents with challenging behaviours; however, they highly value trusted relationships. We are seeking a support worker who is committed to developing a long-term therapeutic relationship and assisting the participant with settling into school routines and transitions.
The participant enjoys animals (particularly cats and dogs), fashion, cycling, and drawing. There are dogs in the home, so applicants must be comfortable with and friendly toward dogs.
Tasks and responsibilities
Supporting morning routines, at school and preparation for school
Assisting with school drop-offs, pick-ups, and transitions
Providing emotional support and helping maintain calm routines
Supporting engagement in the community and social activities based on the participant’s interests
Working collaboratively with the family to provide consistent support
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive daily routines
Assisting with regulation strategies and supporting wellbeing
