Disability Support Worker - Penrith - Mental Health

You must have:

• Previous experience working as a disability support worker

• A current NDIS Worker Screening Check

• A current Working with Children Check

• A current National Police Check

• Current First Aid certification

• A current driver’s licence

• A reliable, registered and insured car

• The ability to communicate calmly and build a respectful, trusting relationship

• Availability on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Upstream Care is looking for an experienced female disability support worker to provide consistent, person-centred support to a participant in the Penrith and Glenmore Park area.

This role is well suited to someone who understands mental health, communicates clearly and can build trust gradually. You will support the participant to work towards their goals, maintain daily routines and take part in activities that are meaningful to them.

The participant has requested a female support worker.

The position will be about 20 hours per week as the working relationship develops.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing reliable, one-to-one disability support

• Building a safe and respectful working relationship with the participant

• Supporting the participant with their daily routines and personal goals

• Encouraging independence while providing assistance when needed

• Supporting community access, appointments and social activities chosen by the participant

• Providing calm and practical support when mental health concerns arise

• Recognising changes in mood, behaviour or wellbeing and responding appropriately

• Following the participant’s support plan, preferences and established routines
