Job description
We are looking for an experienced Disability Support Worker to provide regular support to a deaf client in Pennant Hills.
This role is best suited to someone who is highly proactive, organised and confident working independently. A key part of the role will be helping the client organise and manage appointments, communicating clearly in writing, and keeping the coordinator updated.
Because the client is deaf, strong written communication is especially important. The successful worker will need to take initiative, stay on top of appointments and follow-ups, and respond quickly when plans or priorities change.
Support for this client will generally be 10-15 hours per week, depending on appointments and the client's needs. Once the initial appointments are organised, the worker will have some flexibility to help shape the ongoing schedule with the client.
There are also other clients who require support, so there will be opportunities to pick up additional shifts.
Tasks and responsibilities
Support the client to make, organise and manage appointments
Keep track of appointment dates, times and follow-up actions
Communicate clearly with the client using appropriate written communication
Attend or support the client around appointments where required
Report relevant updates and outcomes back to the coordinator
Take initiative when tasks need to be completed rather than waiting to be prompted
Support the client to engage in the community according to their own interests, choices and goals
Maintain professional records and communicate any concerns promptly
Work respectfully and independently while following the client's preferences and support plan
