Job description

Life With Purpose Home Care is looking for a caring, reliable, and experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join our friendly team in the Blacktown area.

In this role, you’ll support participants with their day-to-day routines, mental health needs, and community involvement while helping them build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections. Some participants may present with challenging behaviours, so we’re looking for someone who is calm, patient, understanding, and confident using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.

No two days are the same, and the role offers the chance to genuinely make a positive impact in someone’s life while being part of a supportive and welcoming team.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support tailored to each participant’s goals and support plans

  • Assist with personal care, including hygiene, showering, toileting, dressing, and other daily living activities

  • Support participants with meal preparation, household tasks, medication prompts, and routines

  • Assist participants to engage in the community, attend appointments, socialise, and participate in activities that are meaningful to them

  • Support participants experiencing mental health concerns using calm communication and positive behaviour support strategies

  • Work with participants who may display challenging behaviours and apply safe de-escalation techniques when required

  • Follow care plans, behaviour support plans, and safety procedures at all times

  • Complete accurate progress notes and incident reporting documentation

  • Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider support team to provide high-quality care

  • Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
