Job description

StarMates Manor provides a warm, supportive home for two young adults who are lifelong best friends. Located in Epping, the home supports both individuals to live active, meaningful lives that include work, day programs, sport, social activities and relaxing at home.

We're looking for an energetic, reliable Disability Support Worker who enjoys being part of a close-knit team. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely wants to build long-term relationships with the residents, contribute to a positive household, and support them to achieve their goals while encouraging as much independence as possible.

This is more than a standard support worker role. We're also looking for someone who is happy to assist with rostering and work collaboratively with the family and wider StarMates team to help ensure the home runs smoothly.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Support individuals with their daily routines while promoting independence.

  • Support community participation, including attending sporting activities, social outings, appointments and other activities chosen by the participants.

  • Assist with household tasks including meal preparation, cleaning and maintaining a safe, welcoming home.

  • Complete accurate documentation and progress notes.

  • Work inactive overnight shifts and respond appropriately if support is required.

  • Communicate effectively with the family and support team.

  • Assist with rostering and contribute to the smooth coordination of support services.

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with the participants and work collaboratively as part of a committed team.
